Award-winning golf writer, Adam Schupak, is about to embark on the next chapter in his career. Schupak will begin at Columbia School of Journalism in August, 2004.

A passion for sports, and golf in particular, has always been a guiding force in Schupak’s career. He was introduced to the world of professional sports while reporting for his local radio station at the PGA TOUR’s Buick Classic. Schupak parlayed that experience into a public relations internship position with the New York Knicks during their 1994 run to the NBA Finals.

After graduating from Colgate University where he competed on the varsity golf team, Adam worked in minor league baseball as a broadcaster and a media relations executive. He served as director of media and public relations for the Winston-Salem Warthogs, a Cincinnati Reds affiliate, in 1995 and in the same capacity in 1996 for the Williamsport Cubs, a Chicago Cubs farm team. In addition to handling the day-to-day media responsibilities of these teams, he also served as each teams' play-by-play radio voice.

In 1997, Adam returned to golf joining the PGA TOUR in 1997 as a production assistant producing and writing weekly segments for INSIDE the SENIOR PGA TOUR. In January 1998, Adam was asked to spearhead and define the Internet strategy for World Golf Village and the World Golf Hall of Fame and direct its implementation. Adam has headed the New Media department for the World Golf Village since the Website's first hit.

Schupak's writing on the Web site has received numerous distinctions. In 2002, he was honored by the Golf Writers Association of America for his series, "Profiles of the World Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2001" in the national writing contest. In 2004, he became a two-time winner for his series "Ben Hogan's Historic Season." His article "Leo Diegel Delivers at the 1928 PGA Championship" received outstanding achievement from the International Network of Golf in 2004. He co-authored his first book, the 2004 World Golf Hall of Fame Annual with Jaime Diaz and Tim Rosaforte of Golf Digest.

During the halcyon days of the Internet, Adam worked with numerous athletes to develop a direct media channel for interaction between the athlete and their fans. PGA TOUR stars Phil Mickelson, John Daly, and Aaron Baddeley granted him unique access to their professional and personal lives as the ghostwriter of their official Web site’s.

For five NFL seasons, Adam served as on-field media liaison to the director of communications for the Jacksonville Jaguars on game days. He also has been a member of the working press at the NCAA college basketball tournament, the AFC Championship game, the World Series, NBA Finals, The Presidents Cup, The Masters, US Open, numerous PGA TOUR events, NHL contests, and major college football games. Adam has been a member of the Golf Writers Association of America since 1999.
